Click on U.S. sites or Foreign sites to see those that we have visited. I live in Virginia, so most of the sites we have visited are relatively near home and many of them were found in Jasper Burns' Fossil Collecting in the Mid-Atlantic States, a book I highly recommend. We have also visited sites in Canada, England, and Germany as well. We have hunted beaches, streams, spillways, road cuts, railway cuts, defunct road-side quarries, refuse piles from active quarries, and have even visited an active quarry. I have attempted to tell you about each site, what is found there, how one should hunt there, and the suitability for the very elderly, and the very young. Additionally, I have included museums. The best way to learn what to look for is to visit nearby museums when one can. Here are some of my best Virginia beach finds (clockwise from top left): early 3-cusp cow shark tooth, drum fish grinding plate, a loose drum fish tooth, Charcaradon Megladon shark's tooth, a crocodilian tooth, and a fossilized crab in the center.
