None of my Germanic roll crochet samplers are any longer than 18 inches,
however at a Center for History of American Needlework museum display many years ago outside of Pittsburg, PA, I saw one that must have been 12 feet long!
German schools taught crochet to girls up until about 1940 and making a crochet sampler was a mandatory part of the curriculum.
In the May/June 1997 issue of Piecework magazine there was an article about another crochet sampler with characteristics of both English and Germanic styles,
with snippets of crochet tacked on a long ribbon (just over 5 inches wide and almost 8 feet long) made by a German woman who immigrated to the U.S. in 1925.
