VERSE 1: " I really think my girls a loon, And if she's not will be soon,
And I've the right to think the way I do,
Sometimes I wonder if she's sane, But no! she's just dizzy jane,
She's dizzy as you'll find them, thru and thru."
CHORUS: "Her Name Is Pearl And She Knits,   All day long she twirls and purls and she knits,
It seems she counts to forty thousand, forty thousand times a day,
I really think she likes to count to pass the time a-way,
Her Name is Pearl And She Knits, My twirly girly Pearly's surely squirr'ly cause she knits."
VERSE 2: "One Night I heard my Pearl cry out 'I dropped a stitch' --
I looked about   Then I began to hunt all o'er the floor
Then down on hands and knees   I went To get upon that stitches scent
But all I found was Pearly in a roar."
VERSE 3: "I'll say she's got the knitting bug It seems she's started on a rug
And all the yarn she bought would fill a vat
She says she's got the perserverance   But one look at her appearance
Then you'll know the rug will be a mat."
VERSE 4: "The other day I got a yen   To eat spaghetti once again
And Pearly said she'd make me some that night
But when I sat down I must say   My appetite just went away
I found her 'darned yarn' was in ev'ry bite."
VERSE 5: "Now here's a yarn about a mouse   That Pearly saw about the house
She thought she'd catch with old cheese in a trap
Then she forgot to wash her hands   And put the scent on all the strands
The mouse caught on and crawled up in her lap."
VERSE 6: "One day when Pearl was by herself   She started in to clean a shelf
She saw a cobweb on a libr'ry book
The spider started in to knit   His masterpiece gave Pearl a fit
She threw the book as far as you can look."
VERSE 7: "Now here's the way the story goes   She went to see a Major Bowes
And he said no!     She wasn't for the air
Then she said she'd made her decision   That she'd wait for television
Then they'll see her knit ME underwear."
