A mystifying, vintage Filet Crochet Piece. Why would anyone finish this piece when it was so obviously wrong? Was the crocheter a non-English speaker, perhaps someone who was somewhat unfamiliar with the Latin alphabet, or did he/she have very poor eyesight? Was he/she following a published pattern? It is interesting that even the angels are different.     As best as I can make it out, it says:                                                                                    Denise Plourde wrote me, wondering whether the origional verse was more like: Now I waee [sic - wake] and see I the light. [backwards]                                                   Now I wake and see the light. Kept tis [sic] God that Me thro 1 gh [sic - through] Ihe [sic - the] night.                        Tis God that kept me through the night. Now I lift my v ice [sic - voice] to pray.                                                                              Now I lift my voice to pray. That God will keep me through the Day                                                                              That God will keep me through the day.               AMEN                                                                                                                                     AMEN Denise also asked whether it was worked from the bottom up (it was!), because most problems are above the bottom angel. Thank you Denise, for your excellent analysis!
